Affirmations are those statements which we keep repeating to ourselves until they come true. It is like making a declaration that something is true although it may not be so in reality. Affirmations usually refer to those statements which will have positive impact in your life. The statements can be regarding your health, wealth, happiness, success, relationships, job, career or any particular aspect of your life.
There can be skepticism in most of the people regarding the

1. Present Tense: The statements should be written in simple present tense and not in future tense. By this I mean, you must write it and say it aloud as though you have already achieved what you want to achieve.
Say for example, if you want to eat healthy and have a physical workout daily; your affirmation sentence will be:
“I eat healthy and workout daily.”

“I am eating healthy now and doing my workouts daily.”

2. Positive Statement: It is mandatory to keep your statements positive and never use any negative words or phrases in them. Although your critical mind understands that “I am not going to eat junk food” means “I am going to eat
healthy food” your subconscious mind doesn’t. Research says that our mind cannot process the word ‘NOT’. That means, in order to think of something which is not to be done, the mind has to first come up with those images in which you are doing it. In our example above, if you say “I am not going to eat junk food” your mind will first come up with the images of junk food and due to the reinforcement of those negative images it will be counter-productive to what you want to achieve.
3. Realistic: In order to bring your affirmations into your reality you have to first make them seem realistic and achievable to your critical mind. Since your critical mind is like a filter which scans the inputs you provide it is essential to make it believe first that what you are stating is achievable though a bit uncomfortable. By doing this you can easily go past the critical mind and reach the subconscious where the actual process or realizing the dreams starts. But if your affirmations are highly unrealistic for the present moment they will be rejected by your critical mind as they will starkly contrast your reality and therefore your efforts will bear no fruits.
Say for example, you are earning a very low income right now and are in lower-middle income group. Now, you cannot make your affirmations that you are a billionaire or a millionaire for that matter. Although it can be a reality in future but at present it is not true considering your reality. Therefore it will not be effective. Therefore you can make use of the principle of marginality in writing your affirmations. By this I mean, you just have to improve your situation marginally in your affirmations are write them in present tense.
Ex: “I am earning 20% more income and investing it wisely.”
Now if you put some extra efforts towards increasing your income slightly, it will be a motivating factor and therefore your mind will start working towards bringing it into reality.

4. Persistence: Writing affirmations and keeping them in your pocket is worthless as you will open them only when you think of writing new affirmations or giving your clothes to laundry. You have to keep doing your affirmations ritual daily and religiously. You can paste the statements in various places where you see them daily. Also, you have to dedicate certain time quietly to contemplate and get absorbed in the feelings of accomplishment of your desires.
Taking all these steps properly will boost the effectiveness of your affirmations and will lead you to succeed in
every endeavor. It is also important to keep your focus on not more than 4 items for a certain period. Everyone wants to achieve many number of things in their life. But if every aspect is taken into consideration you will dilute the focus and will delay the results.
